yDiv Graduate School & Postdoc Programme for Integrative Biodiversity Research

yDiv is the graduate school and postdoc programme of the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research Halle-Jena-Leipzig. It supports doctoral researchers in integrative biodiversity science through workshops, coaching, mentoring, networking, and structured qualification activities.

Academic requirements

Exceptional Master's degree in a discipline relevant to biodiversity research

Minimum GPA

The official yDiv pages refer to an above-average or exceptional master's degree but do not publish one universal numerical GPA threshold for all calls.

English requirements

The official programme pages require fluent written and spoken English. Current yDiv doctoral call pages also list proof of English skills such as TOEFL or IELTS as possible supporting evidence.

Accepted bachelor fields

Suitable previous studies include biology, ecology, environmental science, geography, or another discipline relevant to biodiversity research. The official scholarship and career pages describe an above-average master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field as the normal doctoral entry background.

No separate semester contribution is published on the official yDiv career pages. If doctoral candidates enrol through a partner university such as Friedrich Schiller University Jena, the current Jena semester contribution is 315.05 EUR per semester for Summer Semester 2026.
