Doctoral Programme Environment and Society

Interdisciplinary LMU doctoral programme on the relationship between environmental change and society, combining disciplinary depth with exchange across fields such as geography, history, anthropology, literature, and environmental humanities.

Academic requirements

Candidates must have a Master's degree or equivalent (with thesis) with exceptionally good grades. They must fulfil Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München's doctoral programme admission requirements.

English requirements

A good command of English is required; applicants should also check the relevant doctoral regulations for any further language conditions.

German requirements

The main language in the programme is English. Some faculties also require proficiency in German. Prospective applicants should check with the relevant faculty about their requirements.

Requires an excellent previous degree in a relevant field such as environmental studies, sociology, political science, law, economics, theology, geography, anthropology, history, or related disciplines connected to the programme's research themes.
