Germany Student Visa Documents Checklist
- Valid Indian passport (minimum 6 months validity beyond your intended stay)
- University admission letter (Zulassungsbescheid) from a German university
- APS certificate — APS is generally required for qualifications issued in India, but APS India lists official exemptions (including PhD/postdoctoral applicants and publicly funded scholarship holders) — check APS India and the university before applying
- Proof of financial means, blocked account statement (€11,904 for 2026)
- German public health insurance confirmation (AOK, TK, DAK, Barmer)
- Proof of accommodation in Germany (WG contract, student dorm, or letter)
- IELTS/TOEFL certificate (for English-taught programs)
- Academic transcripts, mark sheets, and degree certificates
- Completed visa application form (from German Consulate website)
- 2 biometric passport-sized photographs (35x45mm, white background)
- CV/Resume in German Europass format
- Motivation letter or Statement of Purpose

Submit documents to APS India (New Delhi/Chennai). APS India does not publish an official processing time beyond a minimum of at least two weeks; applicants typically report about 4–8 weeks, longer during peak intake season.

Submit applications via Uni-Assist or directly. Winter intake: deadline May–July.
