Life Science Informatics (b-it)

Life Science Informatics is an interdisciplinary master's programme at b-it that combines natural sciences and information technology at the interface of biotechnology, medicine, pharmacy, and computer science. The curriculum integrates research-lab training with topics such as biomedical databases, machine learning, chemoinformatics, medical imaging, bioinformatics, and systems biology.

Academic requirements

Candidates should have performed well above average in their undergraduate studies. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is strongly recommended.

Minimum GPA

Well above average performance in undergraduate studies is expected, but no fixed German-grade threshold is published on the reviewed official pages.

English requirements

A TOEFL or IELTS result is a mandatory application document on the official 2026 b-it application portal. The DAAD entry specifies accepted minimum levels as TOEFL PBT 550, TOEFL CBT 213, TOEFL iBT 80, or IELTS 6.0.

German requirements

A basic command of the German language is recommended.

Applicants need a university degree in biology, medicine, pharmaceutics, computer science, or another closely related discipline.
