Material Science (MSc)

The MSc in Material Science focuses on understanding the structure, properties, and performance of materials at the atomistic and nanoscale levels. It emphasises the design and fundamental understanding of functional materials.

Academic requirements

Exceptions are a Bachelor's thesis with a grade of 1.5 or better or professional experience of at least one year in the field of chemistry and physics of functional materials.

Minimum GPA

German grade 2.5 or better (on the 1.0–4.0 German grading scale).

German requirements

German language skills are not a prerequisite for studying. However, they allow students to choose from a wider range of elective courses and are very helpful in everyday life and for a potential transition into the German labour market. Free German classes are offered by the university.
