Linguistics (MA)

Consecutive MA in Linguistics that builds on prior linguistics or philology study and provides in-depth empirical and theoretical training with focus areas including text analysis and discourse processing, typology and fieldwork, language change, and sign languages and visual communication.

Academic requirements

Academic achievement in language practice can be considered as relevant for the MA programme with up to 12 credits.

English requirements

Unless native speakers of English, applicants must provide one of the following at CEFR C1 level: UNIcert III, NULTE C1, Cambridge English Scale 180, IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 93, Pearson Academic 76, or CEFR C1 or higher. Completion of a degree programme accredited with English at CEFR C1 also qualifies.

Accepted bachelor fields

Bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least 150 ECTS at the time of application. Applicants for the major must prove at least 60 credits in general linguistics, linguistics, or a specific philology, including at least 36 credits in syntax, phonology, morphology, semantics, and or empirical linguistics.
