European Mining Course (EMC)

Joint European Mining Course run by RWTH Aachen, Aalto University, and Montanuniversitaet Leoben, covering the full mining value chain from deposit modelling and mine planning to business management, ethics, and environmental engineering.

Academic requirements

The awarding institution has to be a recognised part of the official national education system of the country.

Minimum GPA

No fixed minimum GPA is published.

English requirements

Accepted proofs include Cambridge C1 Advanced with grades A to C, Cambridge C2 Proficiency, IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with at least 5.5 in writing, TOEFL iBT 92 with at least 22 in writing, TOEFL PDT section scores as published, or PTE Academic 62 with at least 54 in writing. Certain English-taught degrees and partner-university degrees are exempt.

German requirements

Not required, but basic knowledge of German for everyday use is advised. German language courses are offered at RWTH Language Center.

Accepted bachelor fields

Requires a BSc in engineering or geosciences, such as mining engineering, resource engineering, geology, earth sciences, or environmental engineering.
