Graduate School Cluster of Excellence CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter

Structured doctoral programme of the Cluster of Excellence CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter for interdisciplinary research at the interfaces of physics, chemistry, and biology, leading to a Dr. rer. nat. degree at the University of Hamburg.

Minimum GPA

Expected average grade minimum 2.0 in the German system, corresponding to about a B+ in the American or English system.

English requirements

No standardised English language test score (IELTS/TOEFL) is formally required. The programme is conducted in English; proficiency is assessed as part of the individual PhD application and supervisor selection process. Applicants should contact cui.career@uni-hamburg.de for confirmation.

Accepted bachelor fields

Master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, or Biology, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the specific CUI research project. Membership in the graduate school is only possible if at least one supervisor is a member of the cluster.
