Mathematics and Computer Science (MSc)

This master's combines mathematics and computer science in equal depth and allows students to specialise in one or both fields. It is designed for mathematically rigorous and research-oriented work at the interface of theory, algorithms, and applications.

Preliminary admission possible with condition to pass missing Bachelor's lectures.

Minimum GPA

The current official SIC application guide states a minimal application prerequisite of 75% cumulative undergraduate grade or 3.00 GPA on a 4.0 scale and ranking in the top 10% of the graduating class.

English requirements

The official programme page and SIC application guide require advanced English at C1. Accepted certificates listed by SIC are IELTS Academic 7.0, TOEFL iBT 95, TOEFL paper-based 600, Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency, or PTE Academic 76.

Accepted bachelor fields

The official programme page requires a bachelor's degree from a German university or an equivalent foreign qualification either in a subject area that closely combines mathematics and computer science or in a related discipline, plus evidence of subject-specific knowledge corresponding to Saarland's bachelor's profile.
