Urban Heat Islands (UHI): Understanding the Context of Climatic, Cultural and Physical Conditions in Urban Environments

This Bauhaus Summer School course examines urban heat islands and climate-sensitive urban design through an interdisciplinary lens. Participants learn GIS-based heat mapping and develop integrated design proposals for more resilient cities.

Academic requirements

interested to work in a holistic and interdisciplinary way in urban settlements and urban environments, basics in GIS are desirable (not obligatory) and/or CAD, good knowledge of the English language

Accepted bachelor fields

The official 2026 course page targets bachelor's students from the sixth semester onward and master's students in architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, urban and spatial planning, geography, international development, and related spatial-development disciplines.
