European-American Studies (MA)

This interdisciplinary and internationally oriented master's programme provides in-depth knowledge of European-American relations in the past and present. It studies politics, history, economics, literature, culture, and language from a transatlantic comparative perspective and includes an internship option.

Applicants must also demonstrate their aptitude for the American Studies graduate programme.

English requirements

Applicants must possess English at C1 level or higher, or equivalent.

German requirements

It is required to hold or acquire basic German language skills (level A1 or equivalent) in order to benefit fully from the interdisciplinary range of the programme and attend classes in related disciplines. German language courses are available at the university.

Accepted bachelor fields

Applicants need an above-average first academic degree completed in a programme with components related to the study of North America and Europe, usually a B.A., state examination, equivalent, or higher degree. If the final certificate is not yet available, an official transcript documenting at least 150 credit points or five-sixths of the required courses and exams can be submitted.
