Diversity, Ethics, and Religions

This English-taught bachelor's programme links diversity studies, public ethics, and the comparative study of religions. It is open-admission and designed for students interested in pluralism, ethics, and intercultural understanding.

Academic requirements

To be admitted to the BA programme in Diversity, Ethics, and Religion, applicants must meet both the general university entry requirements and specific language requirements. The general admission requirements are outlined in § 5 (1) of the General Study and Examination Regulations of the university (ASPO – Allgemeine Studien- und Prüfungsordnung). These typically include holding a recognised higher education entrance qualification, such as the German Abitur or an equivalent international qualification (e.g. A-levels, IB diploma, or other national certificates that qualify students for university studies).

German requirements

For applicants who did not obtain their entrance qualification at a German-speaking institution, additional proof of German language proficiency is required. Specifically, these students must demonstrate basic German skills at the A2 level (CEFR) by the end of their first year of study. This rule, based on § 4 (2), sentence 4 of the enrolment regulations (Immatrikulationssatzung), ensures that students can participate in university life and manage administrative and social aspects of studying in Germany, even if the programme is largely English-taught.
