Contemporary East Asian Studies (MA CEAS)

MA CEAS is an English-taught, social-science-based master's programme on contemporary East Asia with intensive Chinese, Japanese, or Korean language training. It combines interdisciplinary East Asian studies with discipline-specific training in politics, sociology, or economics.

Academic requirements

Conditional admission may require up to 30 ECTS credits in additional courses.

Minimum GPA

Average grade of 2.5 or better based on the German grading system.

English requirements

English at C1 level, demonstrated by proof such as TOEFL, IELTS, CET, or equivalent. No test result is required if English is the applicant's mother tongue or the previous degree was taught entirely in English.

German requirements

German language skills are recommended, but NOT required.

Accepted bachelor fields

BA or equivalent degree in political science, international relations, sociology, economics, or a comparable social-science or economics background relevant to East Asia.
