ACCESS² Preparation Year

ACCESS² is a two-semester preparation programme for international prospective students. It combines an intensive German language course with selected academic modules in engineering, business, or informatics and can provide ECTS credits that may later be recognised toward participating bachelor's programmes at HHN.

Academic requirements

The academic aptitude can be proven by submitting a higher education entrance qualification recognised in Germany (applicable to all profiles). Alternatively, applicants with an indirect university access in Germany can prove their academic aptitude for the profiles 'Engineering' and 'IT' by submitting either a SAT score report, a TestAS certificate or by participating in the ITB Technology Test.

Minimum GPA

Not applicable for non-degree programmes.

English requirements

English language skills at CEFR B2 are required for the technical preparation in English. The official ACCESS² admission sheet lists TOEFL 550 paper / 213 computer / 79 internet, Cambridge CAE minimum C, TOEIC minimum 730, IELTS 6.0 overall, or Oxford Test of English with 120 points and B2 in all modules; native English speakers from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK, or the USA are exempt.

German requirements

Proof of German language proficiency at completed level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages upon application.

Accepted bachelor fields

Applicants need a recognised university entrance qualification from their home country. For the engineering profile, the official application materials also state that applicants without a recognised entrance qualification can alternatively apply with an official result report from SAT, TestAS engineering module, or ITB Technology.
