Programme Overview
This research-oriented master's programme focuses on photovoltaic energy systems and combines university teaching with laboratory and partner work involving the Fraunhofer Center for Silicon Photovoltaics. University must be rated H+ on Anabin list, Bachelor's programme must include a final thesis.
- Minimum GPA
- Minimum bachelor's grade 2.5 converted to the German grading system using the Bavarian formula.
- English requirements
- English at least B2. The official application page lists roughly equivalent scores as TOEFL PBT 600, CBT 250 or iBT 90, IELTS 6.0, TOEIC, Cambridge Certificate or another test equivalent to level B2; Duolingo is not accepted. If the bachelor's degree was awarded by an English-language programme, official confirmation is sufficient.
- German requirements
- No knowledge of German is requested, but it is helpful for daily life. For those with knowledge of German at the beginner level, it is recommended to embark on German courses.
- Accepted bachelor fields
- Completed bachelor's degree of at least 7 semesters (210 ECTS) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Physics Engineering or equivalent, or Materials Science or equivalent. Other engineering degrees are accepted if they sufficiently cover Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Technology basics, and Power Electronics; a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering is explicitly stated to be not an appropriate basis.
