Graduate School of the Social and Behavioural Sciences (GSBS)

GSBS is an interdisciplinary doctoral school offering structured doctoral training and a research environment for social and behavioural sciences. It is aimed at outstanding master's graduates in disciplines such as economics, linguistics, political science and public administration, psychology, sociology and statistics.

Academic requirements

Applications are welcome from highly motivated graduates or pending graduates with an outstanding Master’s degree or equivalent, which is relevant to one or more of the disciplines or specialisations of the GSBS: economics, linguistics, political science and public administration, psychology, sociology, statistics, decision sciences, inequality.

Outstanding master's degree or equivalent; no exact grade threshold is published on the official page.

English requirements

Proof of English proficiency by Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency minimum grade C, IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 92, or proof that at least half of the credits in the master's studies were obtained in modules taught in English.

Accepted bachelor fields

Outstanding master's degree or equivalent relevant to psychology, statistics, linguistics, sociology, economics, politics and public administration, or the GSBS specialisations in decision sciences and inequality.
