Data Science

This English-language master's programme combines advanced statistics, machine learning, and application-oriented data science. Students can specialize in Machine Learning and Statistics, Computational Life Sciences, Human-Centred Data Science, or Information Systems.

English requirements

English at CEFR level B2 is required. Official language tests such as IELTS, TOEFL or PTE are accepted. A bachelor's thesis written in English also counts as proof; if the degree programme was taught in English but the thesis was not written in English, a language certificate is still required.

German requirements

Language skills in German (B2 for admission, DSH1 or equivalent for enrolment)

Admission requires a first degree with at least 180 ECTS and subject-specific prior knowledge in Data Science/Statistics/Machine Learning (at least 18 ECTS), Mathematics including probability, linear algebra, analysis and numerical mathematics (at least 18 ECTS), Programming (at least 6 ECTS), and additional modules from Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science or their application areas (at least 12 ECTS).
