Mathematical Physics

Joint research-oriented MSc offered by the Departments of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Hamburg with contributions from DESY, focused on fundamental research at the interface of mathematics and physics.

English proficiency is accepted through CEFR/TELC B2, IELTS at least 5.0, TOEFL iBT 72, Cambridge CAE/CPE/BEC/FCE, or an English-taught bachelor's degree.

Accepted bachelor fields

Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Physics comparable to the University of Hamburg degree. The reviewed official application page states that successful participation requires a good background in both mathematics and physics, especially quantum mechanics and advanced mathematics; applicants whose degree is neither in physics nor mathematics are asked to contact the department for individual review.
