Data Science

M.Sc. Data Science, taught entirely in English, 4 semesters, 120 ECTS. Degree equivalence with a mathematics, CS, data science or physics bachelor is the usual cause of rejection.

Minimum GPA

German grade of 2.5 or better (2.6 – 2.8 may be invited to an online interview); at least 140 ECTS completed at the time of application.

English requirements

English B2; an English-taught degree with a university certificate is accepted.

German requirements

German B1 is recommended only; not required.

Accepted bachelor fields

B.Sc. in mathematics, industrial mathematics, mathematical economics, computer science, data science or physics, or an equivalent degree that is not significantly different.

Non-EU/EEA: EUR 4,000 per semester for students who enrol at FAU for the first time or change subjects from summer semester 2027 (FAU fee table, Data Science M.Sc.); EU/EEA: none. Non-EU applicants also pay a EUR 100 processing fee per application (since WS 2026/27). The faculty page still says one semester fee for everyone; the central FAU fee page governs.
