Master of Science Biosciences - Neuroethology

The programme covers neurobiology, behavioural physiology, sociobiology, neurogenetics, chronobiology, and the interaction of individuals in social groups. Students combine theoretical and experimental training with research exposure in behavioural biology.

Academic requirements

Proof of experimental laboratory experience preferably by an experimental thesis comprising a minimum of 10 ECTS.

Minimum GPA

The official Master Biosciences qualification page requires an average grade of 3.0 or better in the Bavarian grading system.

English requirements

The official Master Biosciences application page requires English proven by TOEFL 570 paper / 240 computer / 90 iBT, IELTS 6.5 or better, Cambridge CAE, an English-taught bachelor's degree, or equivalent approval by the Faculty of Biology admission committee.

German requirements

German language skills (e.g. B1 CEFR) are highly recommended and may be achieved during the first phase of the programme.

Accepted bachelor fields

Requires a Bachelor of Science in Biology or an equivalent degree that fulfils the Faculty of Biology's Subject Specific Criteria for Bioscientific Study Programmes (Fachkanon Biologie), including the required biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biostatistics background.
