European Master's in Law & Economics (EMLE)

One-year joint international master's programme in law and economics that combines the economic analysis of law with study at two or three partner universities.

Academic requirements

a three-year Bachelor's degree and a first Master's degree or a four-year Bachelor's degree in Law, Economics or Business Administration; a German 'Diplom', First State Exam in Law, Economics or Business Administration; degrees other than law and/or economics under certain conditions

For admitted applicants whose native language is not English, the reviewed official page accepts TOEFL iBT 95 with minimum subscores of reading 13, listening 12, speaking 18, and writing 21; TOEFL Essentials 10 with minimum reading 6, listening 6, speaking 7, and writing 9; TOEFL iBT on the new 1-6 scale minimum 5.0 with section minima; IELTS Academic 7.0 with minimum 6.0 per section; Cambridge CPE grades A-C; or Cambridge CAE grades A-B.

Accepted bachelor fields

Applicants need at least 240 ECTS of prior higher education. Preference is given to students with a background in law and/or economics, but applicants with other degrees may apply if they can clearly explain their interest in the economic analysis of law in the motivation letter.
