Applied Research in Computer Science (MSc)

This research-oriented master's programme links applied computer-science research with industry use cases and interdisciplinary project work. It combines research-group work, methodology, and subject modules with a structured written-and-oral admission process.

Academic requirements

Written application that includes your Bachelor's thesis, a certification about an internship or practical work of at least 18 weeks, and a two-page literature review about a scientific topic of one of the iisys research groups. Oral exam with questions and discussion of a case study presented by you (can be done via video chat).

Minimum GPA

Minimum grade 2.5 according to the German grading system (75%).

English requirements

TOEFL minimum 90 or IELTS 6.5 or above.

German requirements

Basic language skills in German, proven by official test score documents – minimum level A1 according to CEFR

Accepted bachelor fields

Bachelor's degree or similar in computer science, media informatics, mobile computing, business information systems, or a comparable study programme from an accredited university with at least 210 ECTS or equivalent. The official page states that graduates from mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electronics and communications engineering, or math/physics are not eligible.
