Programme Overview

Binational MA jointly organised by Uppsala University and JGU Mainz in which students complete the first academic year in Uppsala and the second year in Mainz, specialising in linguistics or philology within Turkic studies.

Admission Requirements

Academic requirements: A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish "Kandidatexamen", from an internationally-recognised university.
Minimum GPA: No fixed minimum GPA is published on the current official programme page.
English requirements: The reviewed official JGU Turkic Studies page states that applicants must prove English proficiency. It accepts IELTS 6.5 with no section below 5.5, TOEFL paper-based 575 with 4.5 in the written test or TOEFL internet-based 90 with 20 in the written test, or Cambridge CAE/CPE.
Accepted bachelor fields: The reviewed official JGU and Uppsala pages state that applicants need a bachelor's degree equivalent to a Swedish bachelor's degree in Turkic languages, Turcology / Turkic Studies, or a related area.
