Programme Overview

The degree of Magistra/Magister Legis Internationalis (LLM Int) is awarded for successful completion of the study of International and European Law as one track of the postgraduate LLM programme. The University of Kiel offers three other tracks in the LLM study programme: Basics of German Law (in German only), Business Law (in German only), Foundations of Law (in German only).

Admission Requirements

Minimum GPA: No fixed minimum GPA is published on the current official programme page.
English requirements: English language level B2 is required.
German requirements: Knowledge of the German language is helpful, but it is not mandatory.
Accepted bachelor fields: law degree at a foreign university that corresponds to the first examination law degree obtained after successfully completing a law degree programme at a German university, or must have successfully completed an academic degree programme with a focus in international or European law at a foreign university that corresponds to an academic degree programme at a German university (with a Master’s degree)

Semester contribution: An enrolment fee ("Einschreibgebühr") of 55 EUR is charged for the first enrolment at Kiel University. A semester contribution ("Semesterbeitrag") currently amounting to 302 EUR must be paid each semester. This covers free public transport ("landesweites Semesterticket") for trains and buses in Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, reduced lunch prices, a culture ticket and other benefits for students.
