Financial Economics

A research-oriented MSc that deepens theoretical and empirical knowledge in finance and economics and develops analytical and critical-thinking skills for global financial markets. The curriculum is designed for careers in business as well as academic pathways.

Academic requirements

Letter of motivation stating skills, abilities, and interest.

Minimum GPA

Average grade of 2.9 or better on the German grading scale.

English requirements

English at B2 level. The faculty's official accepted proofs include TOEFL iBT 85, IELTS 6.5, Cambridge FCE grade B/C or grade A, telc B2, UNIcert II, selected TOEIC scores, GMAT 430, GRE verbal 145 plus quantitative 147, 30 ECTS in English-taught modules within the EHEA, and listed equivalents.

German requirements

German skills not required but recommended min. A2 level before arrival; language studies available on campus.

Accepted bachelor fields

A relevant bachelor's, diploma, or equivalent degree from a recognised university. The official FINEC page specifies at least 60 ECTS in economics courses and 15 ECTS in quantitative methods for EU applicants, or 12 economics modules and 4 quantitative-methods modules for non-EU applicants.
