Nautical Science and Maritime Transport (Nautik und Seeverkehr)

Nautical studies is an academic programme leading to the qualification for Nautical Watch Officer’s Certificate of Competence. All aspects of navigating and operating a ship as well as business around the ship and maritime transportation are included. There is a variety of elective subjects to deepen knowledge and competences in special fields such as shiphandling, quality management and green shipping.

English requirements

English as mother language Or presenting a recognised language test or certificate in English at the following level: a TOEFL score of at least 68 Internet-based (iBT), 190 computer-based (CBT) or 520 paper-based (PBT), an IELTS Band Score of at least 5.5, the Cambridge First Certificate in English, the level certificate of B 2.1 in English according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages by taking a placement test at a recognised foreign language centre

Graduates are qualified for roles as nautical officers on ships and can advance to captain positions. There are also opportunities in port management, maritime administration, and logistics companies.
