Chinese Studies, Master of Arts (MA)

This research-oriented master's programme in Chinese Studies offers advanced work on both pre-modern and contemporary China. Students deepen Chinese language skills, choose a specialisation track, and spend the third semester at Peking University.

Academic requirements

A diploma certificate and documents are needed for enrolment. Interviews (with foreign applicants via Internet) will be held with all candidates.

Minimum GPA

The official application page requires a bachelor's grade of 1.9 or better.

English requirements

The official application page requires English at least at B2 level, with examples including TOEFL 72, IELTS 6.0, a qualifying German school-leaving certificate, or graduation from an English-language school or university programme.

Accepted bachelor fields

Requires a bachelor's degree in Chinese Studies, Sinology, or another China-related degree. The official application page also requires at least 40 ECTS in Chinese language, 20 ECTS in China-related or Chinese Studies courses, and proof of study abroad in greater China or at least 20 ECTS from a Chinese-language programme there.
