Philosophy

The master's programme in philosophy develops advanced theoretical and methodological work in philosophy and can be studied in German or in English. Students deepen historical and systematic perspectives and prepare for independent research-oriented study.

Minimum GPA

Final grade of at least 2.7 on the German grading scale.

English requirements

For the English-language option, English at CEFR C1 is required, proven for example by IELTS 7.0 with no band below 6.5, TOEFL iBT 95, Cambridge C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency grade B or better, or other officially listed equivalents.

German requirements

German language skills: DSH level 2 or a minimum of 4 points in all four areas of the TestDaF

Accepted bachelor fields

Bachelor's degree in philosophy or another subject with philosophy components and adequate prior philosophical knowledge.

Graduates are prepared for work in research and academia as well as in fields such as media, publishing, public institutions and other areas requiring advanced analytical and communication skills.
