International Master's in Geophysics

The international Master's programme in Geophysics at KIT is research-oriented, has a strong focus on exploration and earthquake seismology as well as natural hazards and brings together theory and field experiments. Students benefit from the strong expertise in exploration and earthquake seismology. The programme is taught entirely in English.

Academic requirements

Missing credits in geophysics can be individually caught up during the first year. For immediate success, students without background in geophysics can take part in an interactive e-learning bridging course

Minimum GPA

Above-average bachelor's degree required; no specific numeric minimum published.

English requirements

English language proficiency: Level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, proven by Cambridge Certificate: FCA, CAE, or CPE; IELTS: 6.0 overall, with no less than 5.0 in any component; TOEFL (minimum): reading 18, listening 17, speaking 20, writing 17; TOIEC (minimum): listening 400, reading 385; German Abitur: minimum five years of English until the final year with an average grade of five points within the last two years or in the final exam. Also accepted: Bachelor's degree of a university programme taught in English or university entrance qualification received in an English programme or Bachelor's thesis written in English.
