International Max Planck Research School for Quantitative Behaviour, Ecology and Evolution from Lab to Field (IMPRS-QBEE)

Structured international doctoral programme jointly run by the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior and the University of Konstanz. Research covers quantitative approaches to animal behaviour, ecology, evolution, physiology, and neurobiology, from laboratory experiments to field studies. Doctoral degree is Dr. rer. nat. conferred by the University of Konstanz. Exceptional candidates with a four-year Bachelor's degree (with written thesis) in a related subject may also be considered.

Academic requirements

We seek to prepare young motivated researchers with the minimum entry requirement of a Master's or an equivalent degree level. In exceptional cases, graduates with a four-year Bachelor’s degree (with written thesis) in a related subject are considered. It is not necessary to hold the final degree at the time of application.

English requirements

Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Non-native speakers must document English proficiency via TOEFL or an equivalent recognised test.

German requirements
